March 15, 2017 - Today’s event at Hotel Alexander Palace in Skopje marks the achievements and joint efforts in the last five years of the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Program (IIEP) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science, educational institutions, municipalities, schools and partners. The objective of this program was to integrate children of various ethnic backgrounds through education and other activities. IIEP involved schools, teachers, children and parents, local leaders, and entire communities in developing interethnic relationships and building the foundation for a better future. In his remarks, Mr. James Stein, Mission Director of the USAID Macedonia, noted that “For many years, USAID has worked closely with the Government of Macedonia, municipal leaders, and other partners to improve access to a quality education for all of Macedonia’s learners. We have made great progress in this effort.

Skopje - Today, December 18, 2012, the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project, together with Primary School Krste Misirkov and the Municipality of Gazi Baba, celebrated the completion of renovations at the school. The process of refurbishment, financially supported by United States European Command (EUCOM) and USAID, created  a better learning environment for interethnic integration in education.

Skopje - The Job Club at the Center for Employment in Stip re-opened today following refurbishment and improvements supported by USAID. This is one of six job clubs that USAID helped renovate and equip in the Centers for Employment in different municipalities. USAID, through the Youth Employability Skills Network Project, has provided resource materials and books, as well as IT equipment and new furniture with a total value of about 8,000 USD per Job Club.

Skopje - On December 15, USAID launched its new Municipal Climate Change Strategies project during the Ninth Annual Meeting of Environmental and Sustainable Development Civil Society Organizations organized by the Macedonian Green Center. The project will focus on four municipalities, selected through a competitive application process, in the regions of Macedonia most affected by climate change.

Skopje - Today, the USAID Roma Education Project, together with partner primary schools from Skopje, Prilep and Kumanovo, organized an event to mark the successful completion of the first round of small school intercultural initiatives. These activities were designed as part of school extracurricular activities where students from mixed ethnic origin worked together in learning more about customs and traditions in different cultures. Such activities enabled greater student interaction and inclusive school environment.

This is one of six job clubs that were renovated and equipped in the Centers for Employment in different municipalities throughout the country. USAID, through the Project, has provided resource materials and books, as well as IT equipment and new furniture with a total value of about 8.000 USD per Job Club, or more than 48.000 USD for all 6 job clubs.

Skopje - Today, the USAID Interethnic Integration in Education Project, together with Mite Bogoevski and Braka Miladinovci primary schools  and the municipalities of Resen and Demir Hisar, organized ribbon cutting ceremonies to mark the successful completion of renovations at these schools. The school refurbishments, supported by the United States European Command (EUCOM) and USAID, created better learning environments for interethnic integration in education.
