Modern Transport and Logistics Workshop in Bishkek brings together experts from eight countries

A Modern Transport and Logistics Workshop will take place in Bishkek on December 18-20. The workshop, to be held at the Ak – Keme Hotel, will be attended by carriers, truck operators, freight forwarders, logistics service providers, warehouse and storage operators from Afghanistan, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Workshop participants will discuss modern challenges and opportunities to the South and Central Asia regional system for movement and storage of goods.

In particular, the workshop will cover:

  • transit and transportation
  • international road transport (TIR) developments and application
  • cold chain management
  • integrated logistics centres
  • trade facilitation in Central Asia
  • transport sectoral review in individual countries
  • site visits

Partners supporting this workshop include the USAID Trade and Revenue project (ATAR), the CAREC Federation of Carriers and Forwarders Associations (CFCFA), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Association of International Road Transport Operators of the Kyrgyz Republic (AIRTO-KR).

Through the Trade and Revenue Project (ATAR), USAID assists Kyrgyz Customs and the Ministry of Economy as well as business accociations, freight unions, customs brokers and other private sector representatives. ATAR supports pro-trade reforms and efforts for increased regional cooperation.
