Kosovo’s Parliament, the youngest in Europe, is working to improve the quality and effectiveness of its legislation. Some current laws are easily challenged as Assembly members have little access to the kind of outside opinion and expert research and analysis that strengthens legislative debate and decision-making. To address this shortcoming, on December 2nd, 2016 USAID Mission Director James Hope and Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli signed a Trust Account Agreement that formalizes a partnership on the Support to Parliamentary Research activity. The Assembly's financial contribution to the project demonstrates their strong commitment to an informed and open legislative process and a new step in their partnership with USAID.
USAID’s Support to Parliamentary Research project is a 30-month activity designed to achieve more comprehensive, evidence-based debate and decisions in national policy-making processes.
