Ambassador Delawie helped kick of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in Kosovo on November 14 with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship in Kosovo. GEW in Kosovo celebrated the achievements of Kosovo’s many entrepreneurs, specifically women, youth, investors and scale-ups.
USAID’s EMPOWER Private Sector program supported the GEW festivities, and it provides support every day to Kosovo’s private sector and its entrepreneurs, with a special emphasizes on strengthening the skills of women and youth. In the last two-years EMPOWER Private Sector has trained 512 women and 561 youth. Moreover, some 630 new jobs for women and 672 jobs for youth were created as a result of our work with small and medium-sized enterprises in Kosovo.
USAID’s EMPOWER Private Sector program aims to increase competitiveness and facilitate inclusive job creation in selected growth-ready sectors, including: wood processing, apparel, information and communications technology, energy efficiency, and outdoor tourism.
