An exhibition Wednesday (April 25, 2012) in Pristina showcased new educational technology products that are available to schools from local business outlets. The technology already is being used in some schools with the support of the USAID Basic Education Program in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Students demonstrated the products, which include robotics for science and technology classes, low-cost video cameras to facilitate practical activities in language and other classes, and wooden educational products that can be used in early primary grades for math, science and geography lessons.

The exhibition was an opportunity for local businesses producing equipment for schools to display their products, and for entrepreneurs to identify opportunities in the marketplace. Kosovo schools have difficulty importing such products, so improving the capacity of local producers should benefit the schools as well as the country’s economy. The business representatives who showcased their products included participants in USAID’s Young Entrepreneurs Program, which helps young people develop business plans, identify markets and realize their dreams of opening their own business.
