Pristina, May 15- The U.S. Agency for International Development is launching the Property Rights Program designed to improve the property rights regime in Kosovo, strengthen rule of law and increase economic growth and investment in Kosovo.

USAID’s Property Rights Program (PRP) is a four-year activity that aims to address the property rights challenges and to develop a plan for the stabilization of the property rights regime in Kosovo. The program will work in partnership with the Government of Kosovo, selected municipalities and other relevant local and international stakeholders. USAID has allocated $8.5 million for the implementation of the Property Rights Program.

USAID’s Property Rights program supports the following objectives:

• Better coordination and setting of policy priorities in the area of property rights in close cooperation with the relevant stakeholders;
• Improved court processes related to property claims;
• Enhanced ability for women to exercise their property rights in practice; and
• Greater access to information and understanding of property rights.

USAID’s Property Rights Program will be implemented by Tetra Tech.

USAID, an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State, has provided economic and humanitarian assistance worldwide for over 50 years. USAID this year marks 15 years for Partnering for Positive Change in Kosovo.
