Verma was joined today by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, the Government of India’s Brand Ambassador for the Call to Action for a TB-free India, civil society, health workers, patient advocates, and corporate representatives for a reception in anticipation of World Tuberculosis Day on March 24.
I hope that 50 years from now someone will look back on the projects we're supporting today and deliver a speech about perspectives. Maybe he or she will ask the audience to recall a time when people still had TB. Or when women and children were unable to reach their full potential because they did not have access to quality health care. Maybe he or she will reference a life-saving vaccine that was invented and patented in India in 2016? Or a game-changing program that eliminated preventable mother and child deaths.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) today issued a loan guarantee to RBL Bank Limited providing loans totaling $9 million to Wellspring Healthcare Private Limited (Healthspring). This is the first loan guarantee that USAID will provide in the health sector in India through its Development Credit Authority (DCA).
Within two days of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding among the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT-GN), and Karmany to launch an internship program, over 100 undergraduate students at IIT-GN have hit “apply.”
