Well, it was a dramatic situation. The safety of children was endangered because of the traffic and rain and it was not possible to pass through due to water, mud, and so on. We had several meetings both in the municipality and here in the village, and decided that the highest priority for us was the pedestrian sidewalk. Now, it is much better for the safety of children, elderly people, and all of us. It was very difficult, the road was almost impassable. There was a lot of mud and water, especially during the winter period. Now it is much better and much easier both in terms of living conditions, but also for pedestrian walking, because it is cleaner.
We, as the Office for Communities, in cooperation with USAID, organized an open meeting with the residents of Dragolec/Dragoljevac village. At this meeting, they suggested several projects, of which the top priority was asphalting of the road in Dragolec/Dragoljevac village.
Our life has improved in terms of our movement as pedestrians, particularly children and elderly people. It is much better and cleaner and it is a positive change.
Of course, during the identification of these projects, during cooperation and selection of this project, there was mutual communication and good cooperation between members of all communities. So in that regard, this project has had a great impact.
Now, we even organized some walks; this really means a lot for us.
In particular for us and for my family, this is a major step forward and I hope it is the same for all residents of Rudice/Rudica village. Infrastructure wise, we were at point zero. The moment it started raining, it was not possible to leave the house without boots - neither into the village nor outside of the village. With regards to infrastructure, I don’t think there is a poorer village than Rudice/Rudica. Therefore, I think USAID knocked on the right door.
