Tamale, GHANA – United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Ghana Mission Director Andrew Karas traveled to the Northern Region of Ghana from March 2 to March 6, 2016. During the trip, he attended the 20th International Trade Fair; spoke at a business seminar held by SADA and the USAID Financing Ghanaian Agriculture Project; visited USAID and Peace Corps project sites; and met with USAID partners, Northern Regional Minister Hon. Abdullah Abubakari, and President John Dramani Mahama.

 

Mr. Karas met with President Mahama at the trade fair, where the two reconfirmed their strong commitment to partnering to lift up poor families in northern Ghana. At the trade fair, Mr. Karas discussed various USAID activities to transform lives in this region, including work to bring free basic education to out-of-school youth, support to mothers and infants, and efforts to improve health and education systems. He also discussed partnerships with local governments to improve domestic resource mobilization and the ability to reach the most vulnerable citizens.
