For Immediate Release
SAN SALVADOR–The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Improving Access to Employment Program, and the National Institute for Integral Rehabilitation (ISRI), opened a new center that will be used to certify people with disabilities seeking employment.
According to El Salvador’s Equal Opportunities Act, for every 25 employees a company must hire at least one person with a disability. The new unit will certify that a person has a physical disability to qualify within the Equal Opportunities Act.
With a total investment of $7,490,000 for the period 2009-2013, the USAID Improving Access to Employment Program is helping to make labor market information more available to students and other job seekers. The program also supports the training and development of the skills needed to improve the country's competitiveness in the world market.
