Aswan – The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, celebrated the launch of the career development center at Eneiba Agriculture Technical School (ATS) in Aswan governorate. This center will provide opportunities for ATS graduates to intern and work at agriculture cooperatives and associations, as well as commercial farms, packhouses, and processing units.
“We believe that technical education is an important step on the path to employment for youth,” said Dr. Anne Patterson, USAID Deputy Director in Egypt. “This career center will provide the essential tools needed to enhance the employability of Eneiba ATS graduates.”
USAID and local firm Blue Moon Ltd support career development centers in nine Agriculture Technical Schools in Upper Egypt. Through building relationships with the private sector and providing training for students in areas needed for today’s job market, these centers will help ATS graduates find jobs. To date, the career centers have helped nearly 200 youth in Upper Egypt secure on-the-job training opportunities.
This initiative is part of USAID’s country-wide strategy to increase productivity and employability of Egypt’s youth. The U.S. Government promotes a globally competitive, educated, innovative human resources-based economy benefiting Egyptians equitably. A generation of career-educated graduates who possess the right skills for today’s job market will help bridge the current gap between education and employment needs.
