For more than two decades, USAID has partnered with non-governmental organizations, public international organizations, faith-based organizations, and host government institutions to increase awareness of the scope and impact of gender-based violence, improve services for survivors of violence, and strengthen prevention efforts.

USAID and our interagency partners have made significant progress in implementing the United States Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence Globally (GBV Strategy) since its launch in 2012. We have strengthened institutional changes designed to integrate GBV objectives into our everyday work, provided guidance on do no harm principles into our programs, and invested in a wide range of efforts.

With the 3-year anniversary of the GBV Strategy in August 2015, we have been engaged in a number of efforts to think about our progress-- to help us improve and ensure our work is as meaningful, effective, and sustainable as possible.

In this USAID Evaluation of Implementation of the United States Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence Globally: August 2012 through July 2015, we are pleased to outline our findings including key accomplishments along with challenges and next steps.
