On April 10, 2015, the U.S. Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, James Swan, accompanied by USAID/DRC Mission Director Diana Putman, officially handed over the keys of a newly constructed USAID-funded checkpoint and housing facility for the guards of the Kahuzi-Biega National Park to the Deputy Governor of South Kivu province, Gabriel Kalonda Mbula.

On March 18, 2015, USAID joined provincial and local authorities and more than 400 community members in Equateur province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to officially inaugurate the Ilima Conservation Primary School, a new model of public school which provides village members with educational opportunities and resources in exchange for the community’s participation in conservation activities.
On Nov. 21, 2014, USAID launched a new health project to Support International Family Planning Organizations (SIFPO) in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The project aims to improve mother and child health through activities including family planning, HIV/AIDS, diarrhea treatment, and water and sanitation.
On Oct. 30, 2014, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the UK Department for International Development (UK aid) signed a partnership to support primary education in the provinces of Katanga, Kasaï Occidental, Kasaï Oriental, Equateur, South Kivu and North Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
