At-risk youth in Grenada, including those in conflict with the law, now have a greater opportunity for successful reintegration into their communities. This exciting development is a result of the official opening of the Bacolet Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre, one of the milestones of the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID)-supported Juvenile Justice Reform Project (JJRP) in the OECS.

At a time when global youth unemployment continues to be rife, the USAID-funded Skills and Knowledge for Youth Employment (SKYE) program in Guyana has supported the development of another 50 new small business owners. And, as a result, the Government of Guyana is set to sponsor 50 more entrepreneurs under the youth empowerment program.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) have  signed agreements representing US$165 million development assistance support from the United States Government to  countries of  the Eastern and Southern Caribbean.

As part of the USD $5.8 million USAID-funded OECS Juvenile Justice Reform Project (JJRP), four juvenile justice officials from the Commonwealth of Dominica are currently participating in a study tour in Missouri, USA from November 2 to November 6. This follows a recent tour by a team from Grenada.
