The Office of Population, Health, Nutrition and Education (OPHNE) manages an active and complex portfolio with more than 45 activities with annual funding of over $80 million with currently 16 program management specialists and advisors. This requires project management assistants to take on a large programmatic and project management and administrative role to ensure adherence to USAID programmatic, fiscal and legal requirements.
The Development Outreach Communications (DOC) Specialist is a member of the Program Office (PRO), which includes as a primary responsibility the production and dissemination of public information regarding the Mission and its development portfolio.
The Acquisition and Assistance Specialist is located in the Office of Acquisition and Assistance, Dhaka, Bangladesh (OAA/Dhaka). The function of the Office is to provide Acquisition and Assistance (procurement) support to Mission Development Objective Teams and the support offices.
Millions of smallholder farmers in South and Southeast Asia are attempting to diversify beyond staple crops to increase their incomes, nutrition, and resilience in response to climate change and shifting market demand. Although they are potentially significant producers of fresh vegetables and farmed fish, most smallholders lack access to technologies that would help them produce the quantities and quality needed to earn income sustainably. To address this, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) rolled out its new Feed the Future Asia Regional Innovative Farmers Project at the Agriculture Innovation Summit in Dhaka today. Implemented by Winrock International, the regional project will increase food security, reduce poverty, and improve environmental sustainability by facilitating agricultural innovation and technology diffusion in several countries in Asia including Bangladesh.
The incumbent serves as the Travel Assistant in the Executive Office under the direction of the USAID Supervisory Executive Specialist. S/he advises Mission staff regarding official travel, USG travel regulations, and airlines, IATA and host government rules and practices, prepares Travel Authorizations (TAs) and also coordinate with International Cooperative Administrative Support Services (ICASS) Travel section and the US Embassy travel contractor.
