The Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre and U.S. development partners have opened the first transgender-specific center to offer services to the transgender community in Asia.
Many countries in Asia have met or exceeded several of their United Nations Millennium Development Goals. However, post-2015, much remains to be done to unlock economic prosperity and security equally across borders. USAID’s regional programs work to address key transnational issues that present critical developmental challenges to progress.
Thailand graduated from USAID assistance in 1995 and in 2003, USAID opened a regional mission in Bangkok that serves the Asia-Pacific. Drawing upon Thai expertise, USAID works on cross-border issues of concern to Thailand and the region.
