USAID signed a cooperative agreement with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) to implement a $475, 000 project “Promoting Transparency in Political Financing in Albania.” Reducing corruption in politics begins with political party financing. NDI will assist political parties in strengthening sustainable practices in financial management, accountability, and transparency, and to engage parties and civil society in building collective action on transparency and accountability in party finance. These measures can contribute to building political commitment that is responsive to growing public interest for systematic party finance reform.

Today USAID Country Director, Marcus Johnson, together with OSCE Ambassador Florian Raunig announced the launch of the “Justice Without Delays” initiative. Each delivered remarks emphasizing the commitment of their agencies to “Justice Without Delays” as a mechanism to improve the justice system in Albania and restore citizens’ trust in the judiciary and improve access to justice.
USAID Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, Mr. Thomas O. Melia delivered remarks at the launch the USAID Justice for All project, underscoring the strong commitment of the United States Government to improve the justice system in Albania and restore citizens’ trust in the judiciary.
