Kabul, Afghanistan - The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) held the first Respectful Maternity Care National Planning Workshop to foster a shared understanding of the problem of disrespect and abuse in maternity care. Ministry officials engaged partners and stakeholders to mutually identify mechanisms to promote Respectful Maternity Care approaches within existing services for mothers and children.
Mazar-e-Sharif, April 11 – The USAID funded Assistance in Building Afghanistan by Developing Enterprise (ABADE) program conducted a ceremony to express appreciation to 35 of its Afghan partners in public-private alliances in the Northern region. The ceremony held in Mazar on Sunday, April 10, recognized the contribution of a select group of companies that - in collaboration with the ABADE program - have invested more than 3 million dollars in expanding their businesses to create 700 new jobs over the next several years.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Agricultural Credit Enhancement Program - II (ACE-II), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock (MAIL) is supporting the Agricultural Development Fund (ADF) to provide long-term loans for the First Microfinance Bank (FMB) and the Afghan Rural Finance Company (ARFC) to fund expansion of their lending activities to Afghan farmers and to small- and medium-size agribusinesses.
Kabul, Afghanistan — The 4th Annual TEDxKabul event took place on March 30th and 31st at Kabul University, with the speaker line-up including two participants from USAID’s Promote Women’s Leadership Development (WLD) program.
Ms. Zohra Wandaa and Ms. Parisa Jamshidi, both from Herat, are recent graduates of the USAID leadership development course curriculum. In addition to successfully completing the training requirements, the two women, along with some of their classmates, launched an anti-street harassment campaign to educate the public on how to treat and respect women.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) joined the Ministry of Public Health and the National Tuberculosis Program to recognize the recent global World Tuberculosis Day (TB) at the Ministry of Public Health in Kabul.
