New Delhi, India – In an effort to strengthen commercial and economic ties between Afghanistan and India through trade and investment, the Governments of India and Afghanistan, along with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), opened the first “Passage to Prosperity: India-Afghanistan Trade and Investment Show”. The event brings together more than 200 representatives from Afghan companies and more than 800 Indian participants to forge new business connections and discuss potential investment opportunities.

JALALABAD, AFGHANISTAN- After months of construction and machinery installation, the first plastic recycling factory started production in Jalalabad, Nangarhar province. The Shaharyar Plastic Recycling Factory is currently the only factory of its type in the country to recycle used plastic bottles, containers, and other materials.

HANOVER, GERMANY- In an effort to expand the country’s information and communications technology (ICT) market linkages, Afghanistan made its first appearance at CeBIT, the world’s largest trade show for digital technologies and telecommunications solutions.  
 
Visitors queued outside the small Afghan cubical as soon as the exhibition doors were open to talk to representatives from leading technology companies XALA Technologies, NETLINKS, Paiwastoon Networking Services and Trend Com.

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN – On October 10, 2007, the Minister of Education of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Haneef Atmar, Norway’s Minister of International Development Erik Solheim, and USAID Mission Director Robin Phillips, signed an agreement that establishes the National Institute of Management and Administration (NIMA).
