USAID Responds to Emergency Situation Caused by Severe Floods in Northern Provinces of Afghanistan

KABUL, AFGHANISTAN- The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is assisting the Government of Afghanistan (GOA) to respond to the emergency situation caused by severe floods in several provinces of northern Afghanistan.
 
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is assisting the Government of Afghanistan (GOA) to respond to the emergency situation caused by severe floods in several provinces of northern Afghanistan.  
 
USAID has provided $393,000 for emergency response activities in Badakshan, Kunduz and Bamiyan provinces.  These funds are being used to provide medicines and first aid, clean water, fuel for transport of emergency supplies, and critical repairs to maintain irrigation structures and road access in affected Provinces. 
 
Also, USAID is sending a senior engineer to work with local officials in Badakshan to evaluate additional needs.
