Monday, May 23, 2005
KABUL, AFGHANISTAN- It is with a profound sense of sadness and regret that we mourn the tragic loss of 11 of our Afghan colleagues on May 18 and 19, 2005.

Each of these men was working for the betterment of his family, his community, and his country -- for this they were brutally murdered.

On behalf of the U.S. Embassy and the entire American community in Afghanistan, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the families of the victims.

In their honor, the United States Embassy, the U.S. Agency for International Development, and Chemonics, Inc. will hold a memorial service in Kabul to commemorate their untimely deaths.
